The Timefactors PRS-29 is a watch I’ve always admired for the simple fact that it offers people exactly what they want, which is a near exact reissue of the original Smiths W10. Too often a brand brings out a homage or reissue to a vintage piece, but feels the need to needlessly update the design, be it increasing the case size or cramming in . So I bought my IWC Portuguese Chrono from Jomashop about 2 and a half years ago. The watch came as expected and has been a magnificent piece. It came in the standard IWC box and came with "papers" like some pamphlets and the manual for the watch all in the box. But I never got a warranty card. . (1975) | SMITHS PRS-29b . After getting my PRS-29b, I sold my Khaki Mechanical 38mm because the Smiths just crushed it in every category from water resistance to A/m to lume to build quality. Plus the PRS is an actual replica of an actual mil-spec field watch for the British military, the W10 (c. 1970-73), which was also the last entirely UK-manufactured production . Help me make this decision. I currently own a Hamilton Khaki Mechanical and I have truly enjoyed this watch. However, recently I have had my eye on the Smiths Military PRS-29A (new version). I don't want to own both, so if I buy the Smiths the Hammy goes. The Hamilton is 38mm, L2L 48mm, has a date feature, sapphire, ETA 2804-2, and WR of 50m.
Eddie clearly has found a niche among fans of small watches, and has done pretty well fulfilling that need in the last couple of years. There do seem to be limits to that though - the Carribbean in particular being really very much on the too small side for a lot of people (for a dive watch) and I'm sure would have had a rather bigger following at a few mm larger - let's hope . Why I love my Smiths Military PRS
I've had my eyes open for a Smiths PRS-29B, but haven't found one so now I'm looking for alternatives. I have a large wrist, so ideally I'm looking for something around 40mm give or take depending on how it wears (the PRS-29B is 39mm) and either hand wind or automatic, but not quartz.
I think a PRS-29 AM is in my future - it seems like the perfect size with the perfect blend of aesthetic harmony. It's basically a 'sleeper' military watch, not out of place in formal wear and just as useable as a casual watch. I wear my PRS-29B a lot and can easily see this watch becoming a constant companion. My review of the Smiths PRS29 model from Timefactors. It's a near identical recreation of the iconic Smiths W10 watch that was made for the British Army.This reintroduction is a completely new watch, built from scratch and incorporating improvements over the original. It is available only in 36mm diameter, now having a sapphire crystal and drilled lugs with shoulderless springbars to allow a greater choice of straps to be fitted.
