In the mid to late 19th century, Asnières-sur-Seine's streets, lined with elegant brick villas, became a charming refuge from city life for the burgeoning middle class. This was the appeal. The amazing stories of the Louis Vuitton family home and atelier in Asnières, northwest of Paris, make it a living, breathing showcase of the maison’s heritage.

By living and setting up production workshops in Asnières, Louis Vuitton made a personal and strategic choice. The location is both close to the capital and therefore his store on Rue Scribe, thanks to the railway which opened in 1837, and also near the Seine, where stocks of wood were transported on barges.The 1860 construction of the Louis Vuitton workshop in Asnières revolutionised the Maison’s production and organisation.
